Custom Furniture

My philosophy is simple. I want to offer truly unique pieces of furniture that can be handed down for generations to come. My shop is stocked with over 25 species of both live edge slabs and milled lumber from Southwest Florida, the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest and the tropics. I am also continuously collecting vintage old growth timber. All of my furniture to made to order, so we ask that clients be patient as we craft your unique piece of furniture. Don’t worry, we will keep you updated every step of the way. Most pieces are completed within 3-4 weeks.

 

 

 Antique Restoration & Refinishing

We restore all kinds of wood furniture finishes, and stains, including antiques, dining tables, kitchen cabinets, chairs, and doors. Our services include veneering, hand stripping, refinishing, restoring chairs, general structural repair, as well as furniture restoration and finishes of all kinds. You can count on Grande Artisan to restore or repair your antique furniture to its original condition. Bring your furniture into the shop or give us a call. We also offer on-site restoration, maintenance, and touch-ups for larger pieces and built-in furniture.

Structural Repair

Structural integrity refers to the ability of the piece of furniture to function as designed. A chair should be stable enough to be sat upon; you should not have to struggle to pull out a drawer from a dresser. With the majority of damage to fine furniture being from emergency situations involving water, smoke, and high humidity environments, the structural elements that usually need attention most are joints, failing veneer, and other design elements that were attached using glue.

Grande Artisan offers period construction and repair techniques using period correct hand tools and materials. The value of a piece of furniture can be lessened if structural repairs are carried out with materials not appropriate to those available during the period of its making.
